Dwayne Johnson’s Video Game Movie Adaption ‘Rampage’ Gets a Release Date

On the list of unorthodox video game movie adaptations coming our way. The side scrolling destruction of Midway’s Rampage really has to take the cake. Getting a release date of April 20th, 2018 with San Andreas director Brad Peyton re-teaming with Dwayne Johnson to star.

The entire project seems almost surreal with none of the games themselves breaking any massive ground in popularity. The games premise taking parody’s and tropes from giant monster movies themselves a radioactive soft drink changing two of the playable characters into a giant ape and reptile.

With obscure optimism I see comedic potential to be played out. However, with Kong: Skull Island set to be released March 10th, 2017 and the film sliding in just before the Godzilla sequel in June 4th, 2018. There isn’t much room for error when competing against Universal and Legendary’s significantly more notorious monster slates.
