Earlier today it was revealed by Reel News Hawaii that Marvel Studios could quite possibly shoot an upcoming Sub-Mariner film project in Hawaii.
Well, it looks like another production source is backing up that claim as we’ve spotted that Production Weekly lists The Sub-Mariner as one of the upcoming projects in their latest issue.
While it’s been recently hinted that Namor Mackenzie aka The Sub-Mariner might be showing up in Avengers: Infinity War. Nothing has been revealed concerning a solo film’s development.
However, Marvel Studios has slated three untitled films for release in 2020. None of these projects have been revealed by the studio and could easily turn out to be The Sub-Mariner.
Marvel screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely had teased last year they’d love a shot at writing a solo Namor film.
“Namor. He is kind of a jerk and has a chip on his shoulder and he is a king and lives underwater. The degree of difficulty is so high, though. Cause it could be a great movie or it could be truly terrible.”
Universal Pictures once attempted a solo film when they had the film rights to Namor but never got off the ground.
Without confirmation from Marvel, we can only consider the news a rumor at this point.
Thanks MCUfeld for pointing this out to us.
