Marvel Head Kevin Feige Says A Film/TV Crossover Isn’t Completely Impossible

While doing the press rounds for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. the guys over at io9 sat down with Kevin Feige to once again ask him about a potential movie and TV series crossover in the future. As many Marvel fans have noticed while the events of the films have actively affected the Marvel TV shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and The Defenders. Many of the television characters have yet to even be mentioned in the films (Agent Coulson has been alive for 5 years and The Avengers have no clue). So Feige revealed that while they don’t have any active plans; a future crossover isn’t completely out of the question:

“Not necessarily. The future’s a long time. So, the truth is, I don’t really know, but there are a lot of TV shows being made, and hopefully we’ll continue to make a lot of movies. At some point, there’s going to be a crossover. Crossover, repetition, or something.”

His comment on repetition leads many to assume that while the characters might appear in future films they might not be played by the same actors. Which actually is a real shame considering how perfect Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb has done with casting. Jeph Loeb doesn’t get enough credit for what he has done on the Marvel TV side of the universe.

Now, many thought that when Marvel Entertainment head Ike Pullmutter (Jeph Loeb’s direct boss) was offered the VA Advisory position within the Trump Administration he would effectively leave Marvel behind. It is Pullmutter’s direct clash with Kevin Feige behind-the-scenes for years that has actually created a clash between Marvel Studios and Marvel TV. This clash is what lead to Pullmutter no longer over Kevin Feige; who now directly reports to Robert Iger at Disney.

Another wish of sorts would be that Marvel TV was more of a connected universe if they can’t connect more directly with the films. DC has created a pretty huge universe of their own on television with Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and by a certain extent Constantine. However, it is unknown how much of Marvel TV is actually connected. Currently, no mention of Daredevil has been mentioned in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D or vice-versa. And with Marvel forging ahead with Inhumans, The Runaways Cloak & Dagger and New Warriors on separate networks. How much will actually be set within the same universe?
