As We Predicted, Jessica Chastain’s Possible ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ Role Is Shi’ar Empress Lilandra

X-Men: Dark Phoenix might be actually getting Jessica Chastain after all!

The Hollywood Reporter has word that Jessica is actually in talks for the role of the film’s villain Empress Lilandra.

If a deal makes, sources say Chastain would play Lilandra, the empress of an alien empire called the Shi’ar, who leads the quest to imprison and execute Dark Phoenix, leading her into conflict with the X-Men.

Originally, the news of Chastain’s involvement came thanks to Tracking Board’s Jeff Sneider and while he was unaware of the role. I had suggested it would likely be Empress Lilandra of the Shi’ar Empire.

Omega Underground had previously linked the Shi’ar Empire playing a role in the film due to Toby Huss’ audition tapes. So this would confirm our Shi’ar story as well.

Production is set to begin later this month in Montreal. The release date has been set for November 2nd, 2018.
