‘The Shallows’ Director Jaume Collet-Serra Is The Frontrunner To Helm ‘Suicide Squad 2’

Today, The Hollywood Reporter released that The Shallows and Non-Stop director Jaume Collet-Serra has been named the frontrunner to direct DC Comics Suicide Squad 2. This comes after the original director David Ayer left the project to focus on Gotham City Sirens.

At one time Academy Award winning director Mel Gibson was being talked to to helm the project. However, it seems that because of script delays he has since left the table. The delay in question comes from The Avengers, X-Men 3 and Elektra screenwriter Zak Penn being tapped to write a new treatment for the film.

Suicide Squad 2 release date has yet to be announced
