BREAKING! Argentinian Actor Gastón Dalmau Joining ‘Captain Marvel’ Cast?

We recently learned that Jude Law was in talks to join Brie Larson, Ben Mendelsohn and Samuel L. Jackson in Captain Marvel as Kree warrior Mar-Vell.

Now, an unconfirmed announcement from Argentinian television actor Gastón Dalmau suggests from his verified Twitter account he’s also joined the project. He’s located in Los Angeles, where the filming is expected to take place early in the new year.

This is by no means an official addition as we haven’t had a trade or Marvel support this claim, but the studio is known to hire international actors and with filming being located in Los Angeles (after moving production from Atlanta) might see an upswing of international cast members.

He’s also worked in visual effects departments for Doctor Strange and Captain America: Civil War, there’s a possibility he’s just joined the crew. However, he’s only worked on VFX in 2016 which doesn’t bode well to be on the crew when he’s been an established actor for over a decade and this film seeking actors to play airmen.

There are plenty of roles for young males on an Air Force base or even in the ranks of the Kree and Skrulls, so we suspect this won’t be the only actor making announcements via social media about their involvement.

We don’t know much about the film besides the setting will take place in the 1990s and will incorporate the Kree-Skrull War mythology. Concept art from Comic-Con showed Carol Danvers (Larson) squaring off with both Skrulls (possibly Ben Mendelsohn) and Kree soldiers.

We previously reported that Sam Jackson’s Nick Fury would have an important role in the film before Kevin Feige himself confirmed our report at San Diego Comic-Con over the summer. Feige adding that he’d have both his eyes and alluded to the possible involvement of 90s SHIELD (the return of Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter?).

I’m personally crossing my fingers for a film set half on Earth and then half off-world as I’m not looking forward to another paint-by-numbers invasion film and it wouldn’t make much sense to do that since aliens weren’t in the public spotlight in the MCU until Avengers.

Thanks to our friends at @CaptMarvelNews for sending us the Tweet.

Production is expected to begin sometime this February in Los Angeles and has been slated for a release on March 8th, 2019.
