J.C. Chander To Direct Former Kathryn Bigelow Project ‘Triple Frontier’; Will Smith Interested

Variety reports that Paramount has hired J.C. Chander (A Most Violent Year) to direct their international crime thriller Triple Frontier, a former project Kathryn Bigelow was eyeing as her next movie.

The film is set in the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil where the Iguazu and Parana rivers converge — making “la triple frontera” difficult to monitor and a haven for organized crime.

Will Smith had been linked to the project previously, and they say he’s still interested in a role, but negotiations haven’t started.
