Michelle Yeoh Returns To Sci-Fi As First ‘Star Trek Discovery’ Cast Member

There had been rumblings for months that we could be seeing another female captain of a Federation Starship in Star Trek Discovery and there is a little more to go-off with that information.

A report coming from Coming Soon (via Nerdist) has a quote from director Nicholoas Meyer (Wrath of Khan, The Undiscovered Country) stating that Michelle Yeoh (Sunshine, Morgan, Tomorrow Never Dies, Supercop 2) is apart of the Star Trek Discovery cast.

“I know Michelle Yeoh is in it.”

Meyer has written the first two episodes of the series, so he’d likely know first hand who is being cast. It remains to be seen what her role actually is, but it’s looking like she very well could be the captain of the Discovery.

Previously, there had been a campaign to get American Horror Story‘s Angela Bassett into the captain’s seat, but due to her commitments to the Black Panther production that’s extremely unlikely.

Production begins soon in Toronto with it’s premiere expected in May 2017.
