‘Hart of Dixie’ Star Cress Williams Cast in The CW’s ‘Black Lightning’ TV Series

Today, Deadline announced that Hart of Dixie alum Cress Williams has been cast in Greg Berlanti’s upcoming DC Comics adaptation of Black Lightning. This will be yet another DC Comics character that will be brought to life on The CW after Fox passed on the project. It;s unknown if this series will be connected to the Arrow-verse which includes Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Constantine and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil (Being Mary Jane) is also co-writing the project.

Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce (Williams). He made his choice: He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hellbent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend — Black Lightning.
