Trevorrow Alludes To ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ In Pre-Production; July Production Likely

While we’ve been eagerly waiting for Star Wars Celebration to begin it looks like some interesting news concerning Star Wars: Episode IX production has been revealed by it’s director.

Writer and director Colin Trevorrow confirmed MTV during CinemaCon that his production offices located at Pinewood Studios for Episode IX are in full swing, suggesting the film is indeed in pre-production stages currently. As Colin reveals he is splitting his time between Jurassic World 2 and Episode IX.

“I’m on Jurassic World 2 in the morning and helping J.A. Bayona as a writer until noon. Then, I go over to my other office at Pinewood [for Star Wars] to work. I go there in the afternoon, and we’re writing, and we’re designing, and there is a draft, and we’re throwing 110% of our souls into it, so there’ll be nothing left of me when I’m done.”

While most are seemingly focusing on the script quote, the production offices being open and design work being underway sounds like it’s in the pre-production phase. This is our first official nod that Episode IX might actually be ready to go into production this summer. As previously reported by Omega Underground, backed up by both a casting call and a recent production listing.

We could potentially start hearing more official word when the production is set to begin at Star Wars Celebration.
