Ridley Scott Expects To Start Shooting ‘Alien: Awakening’ Next Summer

Ridley Scott has been chatting up multiple Alien sequels he has in various stages of development. The latest update he gave was the film with the working title Alien: Awakening that would fit snuggly between the timelines of Prometheus and Alien: Covenant.

The assumption that it would focus on Shaw and David’s exploits on the planet Paradise, potentially leading to the derelict ship on LV-426.

Well, during an interview with IGN he revealed he expects to be filming Awakening as soon as next summer.

Speaking to IGN, Scott said that, “we’re writing [a sequel] now, as we speak. I’ll be filming that within 14 months.” When asked if he planned to resolve unanswered questions about the Alien universe in future movies, Scott explained that the story has been left “wide open” by design: “That’s why I’m doing it, so you’re asking these questions.”

Of course, this hasn’t been made official from 20th Century Fox, but we assume that the studio will want to keep grinding out these films with Scott this enthusiastic about continuing the franchise.

Ridley has expressed an interest in returning to Australia to shoot these sequels.

Alien: Covenant will drop on May 19th, 2018.
