The Working Title of The ‘Shazam!’ Movie Revealed

David F. Sandberg is hard at work on the Shazam! movie and there is chatter that casting is already underway for both roles of Billy and Shazam.

A report from ThatHashTagShow suggested that John Cena was a frontrunner for the role.

Most films use a working title during the casting and production phases. Omega Underground has learned from early production listings that Shazam! will be using the title Franklin during production.

The assumption being a potential link to Benjamin Franklin, who created the theory of electrical conduction with the key and kite theory. This nod to lightning isn’t terribly shocking, pun intended.

The myth surrounded him of actually personally letting himself being struck by lightning, but has never been proven to be anything more than story. This working title might also tease the shooting could be heading to Philadelphia, but we won’t be able to confirm this until we spot locations for the film on more detailed production listings.

Young Billy Batson finds himself gifted with the power of the wizard Shazam to fight against the forces of evil. With the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles and speed of Mercury, he is the holder of the power of S.H.A.Z.A.M; he is Captain Marvel.

Shazam! has been slated for release on April 5th, 2019.
