Live-Action ‘Pokemon’ Movie ‘Detective Pikachu’ Starts Filming This January in the UK

Ever since Pokemon Go hit mobile devices last summer The Pokemon Company has been hard at work developing a live-action Pokemon movie. Unfortunately to fans; this movie will not be based on the manga which follows Ash Ketchum. Nor will it follow the video games with Red as the protagonist. It will be based on a small mini-game from Japan titled Detective Pikachu.

We at Omega Underground several months ago revealed the working title for the film. Now we are back to reveal that production on the film is expected to commence January 15th, 2018 in London, UK via  a recent production listing:

With production starting, next month expect casting announcements to come very soon. Rob Letterman is expected to direct. With a script by Alex Hirsch and Nicole Perlman.

Detective Pikachu has no set release date
