Tom Cruise In The Mix For Tarantino’s Next Film – ‘Harry Potter’s David Heyman Producing

Looks like another high-profile American actor is in the mix for one of the two main male lead roles in Quentin Tarantino’s untitled film focused on the year of 1969 (a Vietnam War story involved?), not a Charles Manson biopic (clarified by Quentin). Previously, it was reported that Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio (Omega Underground pointed out Leo’s involvement over the summer) were also vying for roles along with Samuel L. Jackson, Margot Robbie, and Jennifer Lawrence.

Deadline now adds Tom Cruise into the mix and suggests Quentin has already met him about a role. While Cruise is mostly focused on studio blockbusters he has dabbled in dramas in the past with Vietnam War Oscar-winner Born On The Fourth of July and Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia.

He’s also found a new producer with Harry Potter’s David Heyman, who will replace Harvey Weinstein. Due to the break-up with the Weinstein Company, many studios are vying for production/distribution deals. Previous reports suggested that he was aiming to shoot this summer and possibly in Los Angeles (although, that might be uncertain).

I suspect we’ll see Quentin look into people he’s already worked with but also people he might not get another chance to another film with, hence Cruise and Lawrence (almost played Daisy in Hateful Eight).
