Daisy Ridley Misquoted About ‘Star Wars’ Future

During yesterday’s press conference for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Comic Book got word from Daisy Ridley stating she was misquoted concerning her possible exit from the franchise after Episode IX. Clarifying with the statement below.

“Misquoted. I was misquoted. I was asked — by the way, at the end of a very long day, at the end of a very long shoot — I was asked how I felt going forward. And I said, in my mind, the story finishes at Episode IX. To me, Star Wars is in threes. [Episodes] 4, 5, 6; 1, 2, 3; 7, 8, 9. So, for me, that’s what I was signing on to; VII, VIII, IX. So that’s really what I was answering. And I think, for now – I’m not saying forever.”

Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy has suggested recently that after the trilogy we would be seeing plenty of films with Rey, Poe, and Finn. Mentioning years of Star Wars coming.

We know that Rian Johnson was just hired to create a brand new trilogy which should help expand the franchise beyond the anthology films. But there has been less known about plans for a fourth Skywalker trilogy and if the studio will take a step back on saga for a couple of years.

Daisy has become the face of Star Wars, so it’s hard to believe that the studio wouldn’t attempt to extend her contract beyond the three films. We’re sure she didn’t get a huge amount of money when first signing on but when it’s time to renegotiate, Ridley will have some leverage to ask for a boatload of money to make more movies.
