WB Hires ‘Bumblebee’ Screenwriter For ‘Batgirl’

After Joss Whedon was removed from the Batgirl movie it looked like the film would start from scratch. Well, THR has an update that Bumblebee screenwriter Christina Hodson has been hired to pen the DCU film.

Batgirl’s priority is unclear with Matt Reeves’ Batman film expected to come next and Chris McKay’s Nightwing seemingly on hold. The studio is also developing multiple female-led Batman adjacent projects with a Harley Quinn solo film and Gotham City Sirens, but those haven’t seen much movement in recent months.

Basically, the studio is juggling a lot of potential films and what will ultimately get made is a big question mark.

WB has yet to announce a director or production/release dates for Batgirl.
