Gong Li To Play ‘Mulan’s Villain and Jet Li To Play The Emperor

Yesterday, we learned that Donnie Yen (Rogue One) would be joining Disney’s Mulan movie and now we have two more impressive additions.

THR reports that Gong Li (Miami Vice) and action star Jet Li are joining the cast.

Gong will be playing the film’s villain while Jet will play the Emperor. Yen and Jet Li have previously worked together so it’s a bit of action star reunion.

Omega Underground previously reported that director Niki Caro will be filming in China and New Zealand (locations confirmed) starting this August.

Disney recently updated the film’s release date to March 27th, 2019 after delays caused by scheduling/casting.
