DC Comics and Epix Orders ‘Pennyworth’ TV Series From ‘Gotham’ Showrunner

Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that DC Comics along with Epix is creating another Batman prequel series from Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller titled Pennyworth. The upcoming is not a Gotham spin-off series but entirely new. It will focus on Bruce Wayne’s trusty butler Alfred Pennyworth as a British SAS Agent before his time with the Wayne’s.

So don’t expect Sean Pertwee to reprise his role from Gotham. The drama marks a reunion for Heller with Gotham’s Danny Cannon, who will exec produce and direct the pilot as he did with the Fox Batman origin story. The series was ordered straight-to-order for 10 episodes.

Pennyworth will debut on Epix
