Soccer Streaming Guide for May 2022

Soccer fans will be in their element during May as the 2021/22 reaches a crescendo in the top leagues and competitions around the world.

While the title races in top leagues such as the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 have already been, there is still plenty to play for over the next few weeks.

With the best soccer streaming sites likely to be inundated with fans throughout the month, we look at some of things they can look forward to during May.

Premier League

Just one point separates Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League –  a scenario that sets up a thrilling five-game run-I for both clubs.

City’s remaining fixtures are favourable, although visits to Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United are potential banana skins.

Liverpool still have to play a resurgent Newcastle United team at St James’ Park, while games against Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa also look tricky.

On that basis, City look a good bet to be crowned Premier League champions for the fourth time in five years and end Liverpool’s hopes of winning four trophies this season.

La Liga

Real Madrid are nailed on to win La Liga this term, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side needing just one point from their last five games to clinch the title.

However, the race to join them in next season’s Champions League is less clear, with six teams battling for the remaining three spots.

Barcelona’s visit to Real Betis on May 7 is likely to be a pivotal game, while the Madrid derby between Atletico and Real will attract a massive live streaming audience the following day.

Atletico also have to face Sevilla and Real Sociedad during May, and could find it difficult to retain their place in the top four.

Europa League

Although it is second in the pecking order behind the Champions League, the Europa League has undoubtedly grown in importance in recent years.

This year’s tournament has been hugely competitive and the final on May 18 promises to be a thriller given the teams that have progressed to the last four.

Rangers, RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt and West Ham United all play an entertaining brand of football and each would be worthy finalists.

An all-British final between Rangers and West Ham would be massive, but do not rule out the possibility of one or both of the German clubs making it through.

Champions League

There could be an all-English final in the Champions League, with Man City and Liverpool both leading after the first leg of their respective last four ties.

City triumphed 4-3 at home to Madrid, while Liverpool secured a 2-0 win over Villarreal. Both clubs will expect to progress from this position.

However, City will not find it easy against a Madrid team that has looked a class act for most of this season’s competition.

Whichever teams feature in the final at the Stade de France on May 28, the game should be a fitting climax to Europe’s top club competition.

Championship Play-off Final

The culmination of the 2021/22 English Football League Championship season takes place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, May 29.

The winners of the play-off final secure a place in next season’s Premier League and the associated financial riches that go with being a top flight club.

Eight teams are still in contention to finish in a play-off place, so predicting who will contest the final is an impossible task at this stage.

Nottingham Forest may well be the team to watch if they fail to overhaul Bournemouth for the second automatic promotion place behind Fulham.
